Pre-Shipment

India - DGFT

We are an approved Pre-Shipment Inspection Agency (PSIA) by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Govt. of India since 2006. DGFT has mandated that all shipments of Metal Scrap to India must be accompanied by a Pre Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) carried out by a PSIA authorized for particular Country/Area/Region from where the goods are originating. Correspondingly, PSIA’s services are also enlisted for other regulated products into India through notifications from other Ministries and Govt. Departments such as (but not limited to) Waste Paper, Plastic Scrap, etc. We are authorized for Inspection of all such restricted products for all the major exporting countries to India, and accordingly can provide the mandatory Pre-Shipment Inspection and Certification services in all the major nations of the world.

Transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and other wastes are regulated as per The Basel Convention which obliges its Parties to ensure that such wastes are managed and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. Some of the major requirements for movement of Scrap to India are:

Non-presence of Radioactivity in excess of natural background
Non-presence of Arms and Ammunitions
Non-presence of Putrefiable Organic Matter
Non-presence of Municipal Solid Waste OR Post Consumer Domestic Waste OR Medical Waste
Non-presence of Hazardous and Toxic material in any form

Our Pre-Shipment Inspection ensures that the consignment meets the criteria laid down by respective importing country and thus avoiding hassles of non-clearance / disposal / delays at Customs. The laws for movement of such hazardous waste are constantly changing due to importing country’s Environmental concerns. And we, at Ravi Energie, are here to assist you with any queries you might have on the latest regulations impacting your shipment.
